Open your conversations.json

Choose a ChatGPT or Claude JSON export (up to 25 MB). Preview your conversations, then copy or download one as Markdown. Your file is read in this browser and is not uploaded or saved to your Admix account.

Text only. Images, attachments, tool results, memories, and project settings are not imported. ChatGPT previews follow the active conversation branch. Refreshing or leaving the page clears the loaded file.

How to import from Claude

  1. On Claude’s web app or Claude Desktop, go to Settings → Privacy → Export data. Mobile apps do not offer this export flow.
  2. Download the export from the email link while signed in to the account that requested it. Claude says the link expires after 24 hours.
  3. If Claude downloads a manifest JSON, use the export_url in its conversations entry to download the conversations ZIP while signed in to Claude. Extract the ZIP and locate conversations.json; its records contain chat_messages.
  4. Open Admix → Settings → Import chats, sign in, and choose the JSON file. Preview the messages and select the conversations you want to save.
  5. Confirm Import selected chats. Open a saved conversation from your history and send your next question using an available model. Keep your original export as a backup.

Claude chat history and Claude memory are different

A conversation export contains individual chats. Claude’s memory import and export feature transfers selected background context and preferences through a separate flow. Opening conversations.json here does not import Claude memory, project instructions, artifacts, or the contents of attached files.

Edited prompts and regenerated Claude answers

When an export includes parent_message_uuid links, Admix follows the most recently updated branch and preserves its message order. Claude exports do not identify the currently selected branch, so an older branch selected in Claude may differ. Alternative answers are not combined into one transcript. Older flat exports keep their exported order.

Move a Claude conversation to ChatGPT or Admix

In Admix, use Settings → Import chats to save selected conversations as native history, then open one and continue with a model. For ChatGPT, download or copy a transcript from the local viewer and provide that text as context in a new chat. Uploading text into another provider does not recreate its native sidebar history.

Missing Export data or only seeing a manifest?

Team and Enterprise members may need an owner to enable personal data exports. Primary Owners use the organization export flow instead. If your download contains only manifest.json or links to other files, retrieve the actual conversation JSON from your export first. This tool does not follow links in a manifest.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import Claude conversations into another Claude account?

Claude’s help center says exported data cannot be imported into another personal Claude account. You can use this tool to extract text and provide it as context in a new conversation instead.

Which Claude export format does this support?

It supports a JSON array of conversation records with chat_messages, or a single conversation record. It reads human and assistant text fields and text content blocks. ZIP archives and manifest-only files are not supported.

Does this save my Claude chats on Admix?

The local viewer on this page only reads the file in your browser. To save conversations to your Admix account, follow Import chats into Admix, sign in, select your export and conversations, then confirm the import.
